At last I am fortunate enough to post my Sandakphu-Phalut travelouge.

The day before we started from Kolkata, there was major accident on Kolkata-NJP railway line and most of the trains were either cancelled or terribly delayed. We had our sigh of releife when we heard that on the only train on that is on time and that was ours.

The next morning we took a shared jeep to go to Sukhiapokhri. The road took us through the lush green tea gardens and picturesque Mirik town. From Sukhiapokhri again we took a shared jeep to reach Manebhanjang. Manebhanjang is tiny hamlet enriched with freindly people and sorrounded by SSB camps. We took our shelter at Mr. Jeevan Chetri's (Masterji) house.

Day 1: Early in the morning we started our trek, headed towards Gauribas (valley of bamboos). Gauribas is 18 km away from Manebhanjang. We got energetic chap as our giude, Manoj Tamang. Enroute we crossed Chitre, Lameydhura, Meghma and Tumlimg. We Reached Gauribas at 3.30 in the afternoon when our legs were hardly mooving. We stayed at DGHC trekker lodge.

Day2: We started our trek at 6 am to reach to Sandakphu which was 14 still away. We passed through Kaiakanta, Kalpokhri and Bikhebhanjang. We reached at Sandakpku at about 3 pm.

Day 3: We took a day break and stayed at Sandakphu. We took our launch at a village about 1 and half a mile away from Sandakphu with Rice, Dal and Yak meat.

Day 4: We walked 22 kms to reach palut through Sabargram.

Day 5: We went to Grokhey and stayed there. Grokhey is about 15 kms away from Phalut. The route is though a dense deciduous forest.

Day 6: We reached Ribdi (west Sikkim) from Grokhey (7 kms) and took a jeep to reach Jorethang.
