Ambika Kalna

Postby suryajit » Fri Dec 30, 2011 11:31 pm

There are many places nearby Kolkata to visit but very few are kept away from the disturbance. One of them is Ambika Kalna in Bardhaman Dist. It’s a historical place having many old temples including 108 Shiva Temple, Raj Bari, Siddheswari Temple and Amika Kalna Temple. The town is very old and full of places to visit. The entire city is situated on the bank of River Ganga. Most of the Temples there are taken under Archaeological Survey of India.

Four old friends Swatilekha, Subhro, Raj and I, again gathered again to hunt the place on 25th Dec 2011. One can catch Katwa Local from Howrah Station to reach Ambika Kalna via Bandel Junction. It will take around 1 hour and 45 minutes to reach there. Best time to visit the place during winters.

Hungry guys had their lunch just outside the railway station on the main road. Meal for three will charge around INR 250. Luckily Raj managed to have his lunch at one of the temple there where a family was celebrating Birth Day of their daughter and feeding hungry poor people and their family member only.

To visit places one can have Rickshaw which will charge INR 130 to INR 150. We hired two of them for INR 270. It’s a good way to visit all places and slowly see different part of the city.
