One weekend at Shankarpur

If you are searching for a beach which is not crowded with tourists and you can sit around the beach till late night and have some fun there then this can be one of your best options.
The Journey:
Shankarpur is about 185 km from Kolkata. We started our journey on 16th July(Saturday). We boarded the Tamralipta exp from Howrah at 6:40 am in the morning. It took about 3 hrs for us to reach the station Ramnagar. From there we hired a motor van to reach Shankarpur. It was about 10:30 am when we reached Shankarpur.
Initially we thought of staying at the hotel “Nest”. Though it is a nice hotel but it is about 10 min from the beach. So we decided not to stay there and finally we booked a room in a hotel “Bela Nibas”. This is right next to the beach having some sea facing rooms at a moderate rent. It was a four bed room and since we were five friends we fit in nicely there.

Day One:
All of us were tired, but who can resist having beer while sitting in the sea beach.

After a few hours of fun we came back to the hotel and ordered for the lunch. If you are not a vegeterian you are bound to like the food here. The taste was awsome. So after having lunch we rested till the evening. When we woke it was already dark. But the first sight from the room window just blew us away. We were looking at a sea lit by a full moon.

Unlike Digha the best part of this beach is that it is not crowded. We went to the sea beach and sat there till 10pm. By that time there was a few clouds gathering up in the sky.

Day Two:
In the moring when we woke up it was already raining. The hotel has a small private garden and a park. We had our morning tea and breakfast there. Then we went to a nearby village along the sea coast.

Though there is nothing special to mention about the village but it was a good experience altogether. During evening we went to the Ramnagar market. After comming back we again went to the beach and had to come back early as we needed to catch the next day morning train.

Third day morning:
We took a cab from the hotel to the station. The train was at 5:50 am.

[Note: Carry cash money while going to Shankarpur as we found that all the nearby ATMs were out of service and as per the local residants it is very common.]
